Robin Guthrie was the architect of some of the most etheral sounds of indie rock. With the help of vocalist Elizabath Frazier and bassist Simon Raymonde, Guthrie created a musical world that was both austere and beautiful, yet also somehow mysterious and disturbing. I was lucky to get an e-mail interview with Guthrie, where we talk about his new solo record, aptly titled Emeralds.

Robin Guthrie Interview
2:am, Friday. I'm watching the neon and black of the city outside my window. The rain has started to fall, painting leopard spots on the pavement below. Huddled shapes are rushing down Marlin Street, trying to find refuge from the cold and wet of the night. It's the quinessential scenery for urban despair, yet i'm not there, i'm listening to the Twins.
